What happens when an irresistible canon hits an immovable post?
irresistible meaning it can knock over or destroy anything.
Immovable meaning it cannot be destroyed or moved.

I've asked this question somewhere before and no one can get it. ( yet ) I was wondering if anyone could get it here.
Yes, I know the answer. Smile

I think he meant conan.
Oh, wait... I get it... CANNON!

It would accelerate the rotation of the earth.

Yeah. Mad I can't spell. but I did mean cannonball not "canon"

I should really proofread.

Sorry about that.

(Pst. I'm female )

Edit: And no, it would not accelerate the rotation of the Earth.

Eh, I'm not offended or anything. I'll just correct them. It's not like I imply that I'm female anyway.

What happens in real life, when an irresistible force meets an immovable object? Well, there are no irresistible forces or immovable objects. We do not live in a universe which allows irresistible forces and immovable objects. Therefore, the question has no answer. And that is my answer, but as it has no answer I cant answer. So, how do you answer a question that has no answer without giving an answer? Confused

If there is such thing as irresistible canon there cannot be an immovable post in the same universe.

that is indisputable

aww that answer's boring. I would have preferred the "...and the multiverse explodes in a shower of atomized matter." answer.

Are scissors safe to run with?

We all have been reproved for running with scissors at one time or another. (Funny story about that. The other day at the office I was stalking a co-worker with a garden shear and.. well..nevermind). The argument here is that you will accidentally stab someone (maybe yourself) if you have a pair of scissors swinging around in your hand. TCP.

Did you hear about a study that a group of scientists did? it was conclusively found to be true that news posts that insulted the reader's intelligence generated angry, sarcastic replies! SR.

Scissors You Can Run With (But You Can't Hide) might be more appropriate. OSS.

Let them run all they want. After the first accident they will understand what real pain is. Nature/God gave us two eyes so we can use one for experimenting. IC.

A new Olympic event - the 4x100 Scissor Relay. SNO.

What I really want to know is, what happened after you stalked your co-worker with the garden shears... Jane

Nothing happened to him. His boss had told him to 'trim' the workforce. GY

PleaseĀ… GET TO THE POINT!

This one is a "mental" exercise - don't use paper and scissors - just imagine in your mind:
Take a sheet of paper - any size that you happened to have. (Remember, just imagine this paper.) Now fold this sheet of paper in half and now fold it in half again, at right angles to the first fold. Now you have four thicknesses of paper.
Now imagine you use scissors and cut through all four thicknesses, right down the middle of the paper, parallel to the first fold you made. Now, imagine, how many pieces of paper do you have now Question

"Is the answer to that last question two?

I don't see any other way."

Any Other Way (Celine Dion)

If there was any other way love
Don't you think I've tried to find it
Don't you think I want to stay
If there was any other way love
There's no way out of this
There just ain't any other way...

Apart from the right way that is: Cool
ANSWER: You will have 3 pieces of paper after the cut. It won't matter which direction you make the cut with the scissors - you'll end up with 3 pieces of paper. Don't believe it??? Now go get the paper and scissors and actually do this - you'll see!
