To whom it may concern,

I am looking for a translation of a Roman saying. That saying is "With my shield or on it" I have looked all over the web for a translation.I have tryed to it word for word but I am not sure if the translation is right. This is what I have came up with on the translation so far "utor mei schula uter incumbo".If any one can help me out on this that would be great. you can email me at [email protected]

I thought this was a Spartan saying, and would therefore be in Greek rather than Latin?

Welcome to A2K, ao and D beck. Yes, the idea is from Sparta in Greece. Perhaps this background will help:

The Chambers English Dictionary has phrases and quotations from Latin, Greek and other languages listed in the back along with their origin (ie. the person who first said them). Hope this helps you in your search!
