I have a Dell Latitude pentium III laptop with XP Professional operating system and Netscape 7.1 as a browser on which I have a Netscape email account. For the last several days when I try to log on to the email account I am returned to the Netscape Home Page. It seems to be impossible to access the email account with the lap top. I can access the account from other computers so the problem seems to be limited to that machine. I have scanned for viruses using Mccaffrey Stinger and down loaded all of the current Microsoft patches. As far as I can tell the machine is clean of any viruses.
Any insights or suggestions to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Check the settings for your email client ... they migh have become corrupted or otherwise screwed up. Make sure the email server address, username, and password are correct, and that the email client is set to download either "All Messages" or "New Messages Only", as you prefer. Prolly easiest to compare the settings from the machine that works the way you want it to with those on the one you're having trouble with; they should be identical.
