@Ragman,
If I can piece it together, I think I saw the Kingston trio at the school student union auditorium, with a girlfriend. I saw Coltrane at Royce Hall, with boyfriend. I hated it.
I understand this was stupid of me.

I'd heard Belafonte at the Greek, some years earlier via a rich aunt that my mother and aunt hated; I was the poor one, but she brought us all to see him, which, in retrospect, I think was a good move.

I also tripped on a tree trunk at the Greek, first clue re my eye stuff, but not registering.
Saw the Stones at the Greek.

well, so what. I was lucky to live near.
I also liked smaller venues, as time went by.

@ossobuco,
I like all of those that you mentioned. That's quite an eclectic grouping at an mazing time in our culture and popular music. Lucky you.

@edgarblythe,
I love his voice and that Wurlitzer organ and the drama. I recall playing this when as a family we all went out to eat Italian restaurant and the booth had the coin-op juke boxes. Very '60-ish.

Jerry Lee Lewis learned a lot from the black performers he was familiar with, but he also learned from others, including this man - Moon Mullican.

Michael Brown, a co-founder of the pop group The Left Banke, died at the age of 65. He wrote their big hit in 1965, while just 16 years of age. The vocalist was Steve Martin Caro . . .

The San Francisco group It's a Beautiful Day were initially little known outside California, but became a "hippie" cult group. I've chosen this video even though the sound quality doesn't match the studio track, because you get to see real live hippies. The song was written by David LaFlamme, the male vocalist and he is backed up by Patti Santos.
