This was Quantas' first ever Boeing 747-400. It entered service in 1989, and still holds the record for the fastest trip from London to Sydney. At the end of it's service life, it has been donated to the historic aircraft museum at Wollongong regional airport in Albion Park. International airport runways are commonly around 4.2km long. The single runway at Albion Park is 1.8km. There were 4 pilots on board with a total of 50 000 hours experience, and they'd been simulator training for 5 weeks in preparation.
