Just about every state in the U.S. offers a "free fishing" day or weekend. This means you can go drop a lure in the water without having to buy a license. All regulations, size and bag limits still apply.

I was unable to find a complete list, plus, it sometimes varies by county, so it would be too long to post here. If you're interested, do a Google search on "yourstatename free fishing". It's a great opportunity to get outdoors. Make sure to take a kid with you.

In MA was June 5th and 6th this year.

Yeah, what is up with them having it so early? I mean, sure, trout season in most places opens up the last weekend in April, so the season's been on for awhile, but the kids don't get off school until mid-June. It should be all about the kids.
