@Baldimo,
Why do you want to know?
Allow me to ask you a few questions: Why are you asking these questions?
Are you a US citizen?
What have you done to serve your country, whatever your citizenship is?

Lastly, what relevance does this have to OP question?

@Baldimo,
What relevance does that have?

-----------

Once the VA determines entitlement, the person is entitled to services such as they are.

@Ragman,
Quote:
Why do you want to know?

I have always been interested in knowing how uses the VA and under what circumstances.

Quote:
Are you a US citizen?

Yep, since 1973 when I was born here in CO.

I served in the Army from 2003-2009 as a Chinook mechanic and then a crew chief just before I got out. I went to Pakistan and then Afghanistan for deployment from 2005-2006. As noted above, US citizen since 1973.

Why are you so offended by questions?

So, how long did you serve in the military? 2 years? 6 years? 10 years? 20 years?

lots of research and reports on this

http://www.va.gov/vetdata/utilization.asp

if you want stats + anecdotes there are many resources

http://www.npr.org/2015/01/13/376134776/va-data-show-disparities-in-veteran-benefits-spending

no need to question individual members of A2K

__________

in one specific area that I follow there has been notable improvement

http://www.va.gov/homeless/about_the_initiative.asp

Quote:
About the Initiative
“[W]e’re not going to rest until every Veteran who has fought for America has a home in America.”
— Present Barack Obama, August 2014
In 2010, the White House and VA issued a plan to end Veteran homelessness by the end of 2015. Together with partners and supporters nationwide, VA launched the Ending Veteran Homelessness initiative, an unprecedented effort to make sure Veterans are able to obtain permanent housing and that Veterans at risk of homelessness remain housed.

This initiative has been successful so far. According to the 2014 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count, the number of Veterans who are homeless is down by 33 percent since 2010.

@gollum,
for Baldimo's reference

I saw a TV advertisement soliciting $19 a month (I think) for an organization called Wounded Warriors. The beneficiaries are U.S. armed forces. The ad claimed these veterans are badly in need of this help.

Is the V.A. supposed to provide such aid? Is this a scam?

@Ragman,
Ragman-

I don't know Baldimo's intent in asking his question.

That said, it is arguable that the VA through its specialization in treating veterans has developed an expertise and efficiency in treating service related conditions. Accordingly, the VA's employing doctors to treat service related conditions may be efficient and effective way for our country to handle its obligations to its veterans.

Retired veterans also can be afflicted with all the other medical conditions that afflict people who have not been in the military. Accordingly, it might be more efficient & effective for the VA to give its veterans vouchers to take to non-VA doctors for these conditions.

What veterans really need is more hospitals, at least one in every city, and a new job bill by Republicans, who have yet to take their needs seriously, don't seem to care if they live or die. How many of you out there know that Congress men and women get paid with our taxes $186,000 a year and all expenses. by the same government they hate.
