Hi everyone, I'm sorry if this question doesn't fit in here, but I'm going to try anyway
Basically I'm very confused on what to study for university - I'm pretty set on science, I just don't know which one. At first I considered physics, but I think there's too much math and too much PC work. Then I've thought of biology, but I think job prospects are poor and it's too much chemistry.
Then some months ago I started to read about geology, and most of it sound really interesting - but also one of the main reasons I find it interesting is because of the chance to get outside a lot. I hate sitting indoors with a PC, especially when the sun is shining. Ideally I'd want to work with something intellectually stimulating while at the same time not isolating myself indoors all the time.
But I'm not very interested in rocks, if at all. I enjoy reading about the phenomena of the Earth and the history of life, but I'm not "obsessed" with anything of that kind per se, not even volcanoes. I think I would like to do research if possible, and I'd also like to travel around the world, from tropical regions to colder latitudes... and also, I'm NOT very interested in finding oil for companies.
Can you maybe share some of your thoughts with me? What was the major like? Does one have to be an obsessed fanatic to become a geologist?
Thanks for your time!
