For any of our US members. Did this 'event' actually make it to the mainstream media?

Probably on the 27th page under Panda twins...

Seriously, I saw The Netherlands guy shaking hands with Bush last week.

I didn't catch the Oz guy.

(OH. February.
<squinting eyes in effort to remember...>

I can't remember.)
Hope we sent him back as good as we got him.

It says thay had a joint press conference. It must have been notable. Probably my bad memory.

Anybody?

I have just checked out the actual transcript of the White House press conference. J-Ho had all of 238 words.

The rest were Bush sticking it to France (again) and putting the slipper into Saddam Hussein (again). Aust got a couple of fleeting mentions, and he calls the PM 'John' all the time.

Stilly--

Was it big news in Oz? Doesn't it hurt Howard to closely identify with Bush? How's Howard doing in the approval polls?

Big frog in a small pond soon becomes a very small frog in a lake. I am kinda hoping that whilst he's in Europe for D-Day rememberance that some human rights issues about refugees/Tampa/Indigenous Australians might pop up.

Sofe - sadly the biggest 'news' that broke was:

The Dull meets the Dill

Our 'John' (makes it sort of dirty doesn't it) is pinning his re-election chances to a good result in the US election and Iraq. He's not the most liked person and there are some younger men in his party itching to get a crack at the top job.

Sofia - what was big news in Oz was Bush's somewhat startling venture into Oz politics - by rather pointedly saying we should stay in Iraq - ie coming out in support of Howard vs the Opposition Leader.

Now 'John' will have to go back to the US to attend Reagan's state funeral. Lots of duty-free shopping opportunities!!

It actually may have made the news, but it happened over a year ago (2003), so our short term memories have been erased by now.

Feb 2003 was before the war in Iraq started. It might have been good for your John at that time to shake hands with Bush. Afterall, we have to all work together in keeping his eyes diverted from other countries for as long as possible... hopefully until November.
