I am totally against executions. Not not that I have any sympathy for some, who actually deserve it, but because there are too many cases of the innocent getting convicted.

I am very glad to live in a society where we set a higher standard for treating other human beings than the criminals do. (Well at least in terms of not having the death penalty - our record for treating asylum seekers and our indigenous population is pretty abysmal)

It seems to me if the state is going to act in our name shouldn't it at least try to determine what our mind is about state sanctioned murder?
