@eurocelticyankee,
Did you mention attending a Chic gig? Then you might enjoy this.

For a guy that was at the forefront of popularising Disco as the urban sound of the '70's, not many people are aware of Nile Rodgers' humble rural beginnings; he was born and raised on a farm in Montana. Long before hitting paydirt with his band, Chic, he started the gimmicky tradition of holding a raffle at his shows. Prizes were appropriate for the farmer-types that attended those early gigs; diesel vouchers, perhaps a hoe or shovel, even occasionally a chicken. As his fame spread, the prizes became more substantial and he continued with the practise even when Chic were filling stadiums. Of course, a signature song was needed hence the worldwide smash: Free cow (and a sheep, and a sheep).

@lmur,
Nile Rodgers and Chic play here (Ireland) so often they should apply for citizenship. Nile O'Rodgers.
Rodgers is a prolific song writer and producer.
Writing songs for many artists including Sister Sledge.

In 1956 Elvis enjoyed 5 weeks at number 1 with 'Don't Be Cruel'. The B side was 'Hound Dog'.
This double sided hit went on to become Presley's biggest selling single with over 6 million sales.

Today the Portuguese singer Roberto Leal has passed away 67 years old with a melanoma.
His best work can be found in his CD "Canto da Terra" in 2007 where he searches for the roots of the Portuguese culture and archaic language Mirandez very close to Gallic Spanish!

La nuit je mens – One of Bashunbg’s best songs

On m'a vu dans le Vercors
Sauter à l'élastique
Voleur d'amphores

Vertige De L'amour - Alain Bashung

L'coeur transi reste sourd
Aux cris du marchand d'glaces
Non mais t'as vu c'qui passe
J'veux l'feuilleton à la place

Vertige de l'amour

Mon légionnaire attend qu'on l'shunte
Et la tranchée vient d'être repeinte
Ecoute, si ça continue j'vais m'découper
Suivant les points, les pointillés

Vertige de l'amour...

Piensa en mi - Luz Casal

Si tienes un hondo penar
piensa en mi
si tienes ganas de llorar
piensa en mi
ya vez que venero
tu imagen divina
tu parvula boca
que siendo tan niña
me enseño a pecar

Piensa en mi
cuando sufras
cuando llores
tambien piensa en mi
cuando quieras quitarme la vida
no la quiero, para nada
para nada me sirve sin ti

Piensa en mi
cuando sufras
cuando llores
tambien piensa en mi
cuando quieras quitarme la vida
no la quiero, para nada
para nada me sirve sin ti

Les oiseaux dans la charmille (The Doll song) from Jacques Offenbach's opera The Tales of Hoffmann. His final work which he never got to see as he died 4 months before the premiere, Bummer. The doll song is said to be the most difficult piece ever written for soprano.
It's performed here by German born soprano Patricia Janeckova. Her performance is flawless. This is what I love about youtube, if you were not lucky enough to have been there you still get to see amazing performances like this.

Abba - Dancing Queen.

The quintessential disco song. Released in 1976 Dancing Queen was a huge hit, still is.
ABBA are a Swedish pop group formed in Stockholm in 1972 by Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
The group's name is an acronym of the first letters of their first names.
