@edgarblythe,
Mark, I love that song by Gale. Believe it or not, it's sunshiny here, buddy.

Thinking about a poet today:

The House of Lords was anachronistic even back then. (It has been reformed under Tony Blair, but it's still made up of unelected politicians)http://digi.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/diglitData/image/punch1887/1/091.jpg

@izzythepush,
Welcome back, England, and that Punch cartoon is hilarious. Especially like the man yawning.

You sent me searching again:

an error in chronology; especially : a chronological misplacing of persons, events, objects, or customs in regard to each other.

Now, for Ireland

The only green stuff in my front yard are those leaves.

Incidentally, a shamrock has only three leaves

The legendary blues song House of the Rising Sun has had many different versions. The narratives are different depending on whether the central character is male or female. Actress Katey Sagal sang an interesting female narrative of the song for her HBO television drama.

Some Punch Poetry. (It seems a bit late, Valentine's Day being over a week ago, but this appeared in Punch dated 19th February 1887.) Clearly the author never got a card.

Quote:
A SONNET OF VALENTINES.

"When February's lingering light reveals
The patient earth, still pallid with the weight
Of Winter's darkness, and the dazzling freight
Of snow, which Summer's wealth in trust upseals,

And heavenward turns th' unwary walker's heels,
And lends to dauntless Infancy a straight
And aggravating missile for the pate
Of muting stranger, who astonied feels

The concrete cloud upon his collar burst;—
Now, when the hirds make their engagements known,
And early baas are on the thin winds blown,

There are who send—I can't tell why, I'm sure—
To strangers, who have ne'er with them convers'd,
Rude painted daubs of vilest portraiture.

Good morning from our radio station in Florida.

Hurry back, Gurda. Loved that version of The House of the Rising Sun.

Hey, Brit, that Ode to Valentines Day from Punch was great. You hurry back as well.

Here's an ode to a legend, y'all:

James T. Kirk:

Upon my junker thou doth sit,
Grease rounds within your chambers lie.
And oh, the shots that we shall hit
The beaut’ful sound of rockets fly.
While one may seem but little threat,
Place two or more and engies roar
As long’s it land, thou art set
Hit the naked hull and thou shalt score
Opposed teams may use chem spray
And scoff at me with match’s start.
But cycles missed within the fray
Shall cause the fall of ship and heart
The battle’s won, and if I may,
Is today your birth and day?

How about some fun for a Sun Day.

Hey, Stone, want to have a romance?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTRvYLLFwYI

Romancing the Stone is a 1984 American action-adventure romantic comedy. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, it stars Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito. The film was followed by a 1985 sequel, The Jewel of the Nile.

@MMarciano,
Welcome to our radio station, MMarciano. Love that "goodbye" song. It is always a pleasure of mine to hear music done in a minor key.

How about a hymn for Sunday. As edgar knows, one doesn't have to be a theist to enjoy church music:

I recall having seen that TV show, but when Steve was speared by a sting ray, I got up and left the room.

I don't like seeing people kill animals, either.
