Randolph Churchill just won't go away.

Quote:
Since Lord Randolph's retirement many of his ex-
friends have been "raising the cry of "Wolff." Up
till now the High Commissioner to the Sultan has stood
it like a " like a Lamb." Will he return ?

It seems that this is the Wolff in question.

Good morning from a rather cold radio station here in Florida.

Latin George, I am so happy to see you here. Glad all is well with you and I appreciate your comment on what we play. Especially enjoyed Linda doing Cry Me a River.

Hurry back Frenchman. Great song, Mon Ami and it does not need translating.

Pullman, I love your bits of ancient British history. It is great.

Of couse I enjoy everything my friend edgar/Mark plays here. As you know, I love everything Judy Collins sings.

Sorry if I missed anyone here, but a bit of hypothermia is giving me some problems.

Today is this fantastic performers birthday.

Poor Kurt Cobain, don't think I shall go there. <sniff>

Back later as I need to work with the cold.

1887 isn't ancient. A great aunt of mine remembered being told to be a good girl or "Boney" would get her. Anything from the 1800s is still fairly recent.

This is ancient.

@izzythepush,
Is it fenced off now?

When I visited about forty years ago, I was able to walk among the stones.

@George,
It is, there's two lots of fences. If you pay you can get past the exterior fence, walk around a pre determined route with a earphone telling you what each stone is. During the solstices and equinoxes they let the druids in, but that's the only time people are allowed to touch the stones.

I remember sitting on them when I was a kid, but that was before Thatcher decided to use the army to stop the free festival that used to take place every year.

@George,
They're not real druids. They were wiped out by the Romans. They're neo druids inspired by Victorian romanticism.

"King Arthur" won't go until the fences come down. I heard a tale (unfortunately I can't find it online) that he asked the council for permission to dig a hole in a road to find Excalibur. He didn't find it, and left the road with a hole in it.

Fantastic history, then izz with a y. I thought that the druid religion had been restored later. Glad you made Latin George laugh,as that in itself is healing.

Love the story about King Arthur as well.

Now ancient stuff. The year 1620 the Pilgrims came over; the good ship Mayflower brought them cross the sea:

In 1492 Columbus sailed the Ocean blue. The only thing that he proved was that the world was round.

@Letty,
That's not really ancient either. I've drunk in pubs older than that. Ancient has to be at least 1000 years old, pre Norman conquest. And that's not remotely ancient compared to 'Henge. It was a ruin when the Romans invaded.

edgar, Thanks for your comment on LuLu. I love that one by Jerry Lee Lewis, buddy.

izz with a y. There were ancient places all over Virginia, but I was afraid to go there by myself. As you know, my ancestral home went back to 1600.

Here's another wildness, y'all. I love flowers that are wild as opposed to those that are not:

Time for me to say good afternoon, but first a brief look at Virginia:

Virginia's state nickname is Old Dominion. The nickname was earned by the loyalty of Virginia to the Royalist cause during the English Civil War and afterward, during the English Commonwealth. The moniker was given by King Charles II in recognition of Virginia's loyalty to the Crown, after the Restoration.

Now, wild birds:

Wonderful having England and France with us today, and, of course Stone Henge.

From Letty with love to the world
