The Victorians were very mush into esoteric "sciences," séances and spiritualism were all the rage. This cartoon satirises the impact of such "science."

Good morning from a very chilly Florida radio station.

ehBeth, Welcome back, gal, and I love coming from the Sky.

Pullman, I enjoy your Punch stuff, and I think that my daddy used to get that magazine, but I'll have to check with my older sister, buddy.

More synchronicity. Like Creedence Clearwater, I looked out my back door and saw Robin Redbreasts all over my back yard. What a surprise, y'all.

Today is Meg Tilley's birthday, so here is a tribute to that Canadian gal:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVyw7W3S1bk

I read Girl in a Swing by her and didn't understand one bit of it. I later saw the movie and no resolution at all.

How about some Hippie music now:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06X5HYynP5E

I was a closet hippie because I was no activist.

I also found out that Buffy St. Marie was a Canadian Cree.

edgar, I love Sam Cooke doing Cupid, buddy.

Latin, George, Frankly, I didn't much like that American Gothic either, but I did like Scotch and Soda by the Kingston Trio.

Another birthday buy, but first, some info:

Victor "Vic" Morrow (February 14, 1929 – July 23, 1982) was an American actor whose credits include a starring role in the 1960s television series Combat!, prominent roles in a handful of other television and film dramas, and numerous guest roles on television. Morrow and two children died when a stunt helicopter crashed on them during the filming of Twilight Zone: The Movie.

Now, y'all, a tribute:

edgar/Mark, I love that one by the sassy Miss Sarah.

I didn't know much about Vic Morrow either, but what a surprise to find out that he was in The Twilight Zone. Loved that series.

Here's another surprise, y'all. Al Jolson again:

I still look back at happier times. I am still wearing this solid gold chain with a heart attached and a diamond in the middle that my late husband gave me for Valentine's Day. Cool

Following the Scottish referendum, this is as timely as ever, if not a bit extreme.

Quote:
The Separatist fever is catching. It appears that the Orkney and
Shetland Isles are now agitating for a special Legislature of their
own, and we shall probably soon have the Scilly Isles following suit.
Indeed, there is no reason that the movement should stop there.
Why should not the Isle of Dogs, for instance, have a Parliament
to itself ? Then, again, there is Eel Pie Island, or, for the matter of
that, the Goodwin Sands. To judge from the recent utterances of cer-
tain Anti-Unionist politicians, it is not easy to define the limits they
would assign to the latest development of the craze for legislative in-
dependence. "Why not try Home Rule in the Chops of the Channel?
The experiment would be at once significant and entertaining

Good early morning from here in our Florida radio station.

Inspired by Olivier5's Ayo's Without you, and our pullman's Scottish contribution, two songs.

First, Andy Russel but here is some info on this golden oldie.

Andy Russell (born Andrés Rábago;[1] September 16, 1919 – April 16, 1992) was an American popular vocalist, specializing in traditional pop and Latin music. He sold 8 million records in the 1940s to early 1950s singing in a romantic, baritone voice in his trademark bilingual English and Spanish style. He had chart-busters, such as "Bésame Mucho," “Amor,” “Magic is the Moonlight,” “What a Diff'rence a Day Made,” “Laughing on the Outside (Crying on the Inside),” “Without You,” and "The Anniversary Waltz."

Now, inspired by our Pullman, another delightful memory.

My Scottish gene are in my blood via my third cousin.
