@edgarblythe,

I was watching a programme on Glastonbury Festival (highlights) this evening and this good old song by Kenny Rodgers came on, which I like a lot.

Kenny still tells it well.

Good evening, WA2K and welcome to the Graveyard Shift.

I'm a city boy from East Boston, but I like a bit of country music every once I
while. Here's one from a group of newcomers and another from an old
favorite.

Edgarblythe played "Dark Moon" and Letty replied with "No Moon At All".
Wonderful songs! What is it about the moon, anyway?

@edgarblythe,
Yes, I did. In fact I heard Elvis first. I didn't know at the time it was a
cover.

My good buddy Spencer hails from Dalhousie, New Brunswick. His dad,
Willard, ran the town's movie theatre. As was common in those days,
they also booked live acts. One night, the performer was a little-known
Hank Snow.

When Spencer's mom was reviewing the books later, she saw an item that
shocked her: $10.00 -- H Snow. "Oh my God, Willard!" she yelled at
him. "You paid someone ten dollars to haul snow?"

Continuing spoof letters.

Quote:
Sir,—As there is to be no firework display on the occasion of the
celebration of Her Majesty's Jubilee, may I be permitted to suggest
an excellent substitute. I can scarcely imagine anything more
appropriate than a fire-balloon. If they were dispatched by hun-
dreds and thousands the effect would be magnificent. Fire-balloons
are not expensive—I myself can supply an excellent article at one-
and-sixpence. Yours truly,

Toy Warehouse. Montgolfier, Junior.

Off to the gym with my man Rhys. I need some good old 50's R&B to get my
juices flowing. This ought to do it.

Good morning from our radio station here in Florida.

Spoof man, love 'em, and I didn't sleep well last evening because a terrible thunder storm was predicted with lightning and hail. It didn't happen, so hail to the queen! Smile

Wish that I could comment on all the wonderful contributions but needless to say they were all wonderful

Latin George, hope you and Rhys have a wonderful time with that rock and roll show.

Two songs for today. First, a classical:

Glad to see McTag with us as we have a lot in common

Now, I wasn't alone because of this ranger.

as edgar/Mark knows the real lone ranger was an afro american lawman.

@edgarblythe,
Glad you enjoyed Chet, Mark. Didn't know The Wedding by June, but I remember her for Crying in the Chapel.

Today is Brian Wilson's birthday, and if my memory serves me correctly, he was the only one of the Beach Boys who could surf.

Frankly, I don't want to go into his untimely demise, so let's remember him this way:

@edgarblythe,
Didn't know that one by The King, Mark. I Want You I Need You, I Love You was great, and thanks for the introduction.

Oops, I got Brian and Dennis Wilson mixed up.

Dennis Carl Wilson was an American musician, singer, and songwriter who co-founded the Beach Boys. He is best known as their drummer, as the middle brother of bandmates Brian and Carl Wilson.

Saying good afternoon with two songs. (I Hope)

@edgarblythe,
Happy Sunday, Mark. Good thing you're not dancing today. There may be Baptists close by. Smile Love Perry doing Round and Round.

Remember, dear friend, you don't have to be a theist to enjoy Sunday's music.

Another spoof letter.

Quote:
Sir,—At the Review at Aldershot there is one branch of the Land
Forces of Her Majesty that will not be represented at all except by
its individual members. I allude to that fine body of men the
Metropolitan Police. Why should not every division in the three
Kingdoms march down the Long Valley ? The effect would be very
fine, and in the opinion of experts certain branches of industry would
revive during the absence of such a force from London,

Yours most truly, William Jeeemiah Diddlee Sikes.
