@George,
Happy Father's Day to you, my dear friend. Love Enya doing How Can I Keep from Singing.
Well, my daughter remember her father by remember his music and looking at his contra bass.
I look at my Daddy's photo in his WWI uniform, and remember him in happier times.
Today is this poet's birthday, but first some info:
John Agard (born 21 June 1949 in British Guiana) is an Afro-Guyanese playwright, poet and children's writer, now living in Britain. In 2012, he was selected for the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry.
Now, y'all, the poem:
John Agard:
Mirrors
Switching from dress to dress
you face the truth of mirrors
with your woman’s dreams
and fragile human need
to stun the staring world
but when the face of mirrors
tells you that they lie
and the world’s fault-finding eye
does not see your private hurt
you will turn to find in me
a human mirror
for the hidden self
that others fail to hold or see
Other Mouth.
