as edgar/Mark knows one doesn't have to be a theist to enjoy religious music.

Going to say good afternoon with three songs.

First, Leonard and Judy:

Now, Jesus Rose of Sharon:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsebGl3_yMs

and the snakes that they named Monty. Smile

Punch, (never a fan of Gladstone) comments on the spat between him and poet Algernon Swinburne.

Quote:
Pot and Kettle.

Sure Criticism's latest curiosity

Is Swinburne charging Gladstone with " verbosity."

To cap it, Weg, master of verbal mist,

Should call the angry Bard " a casuist."

When both would be allowed, by all who heard,

Equally right, and equally absurd.

Happy Memorial Day from here in the USA.

edgar/Mark Mo Mary by Harry was connected to Ave Maria, right?

Hey, Pullman, I bet that man was glad that he didn't have his picture on that stone. He could have added an E to Swin and made him a pig. Smile

My Dad was in WWI, so here are some songs from that generation:

plus a funny one

Incidentally; My oldest sister and her husband and my brother were in WWII. That mix of music done at the same time was NOT good. They mixed up WWI and II. Sad I'm blaming it on Windows 8.

Well, it worked this time around. Sorry for all the mistakes that were made.

I missed edgar's song by "the velvet fog". Great one.

Two more songs, then I'll shut down our radio station:

If this one has been played before, it's worth a second listen.

I could be wrong about Mo Mary. I think it is a Scottish song.

I don't think anyone could come up with an American song related to our veterans I don't know. Of course, some smarty will come along and do it to show me up. Razz
The next song is for the troubled veterans who have come home and not fit well into the society they fought for.

I just got through looking at my daddy in his WWI uniform and my brother Bill in his WWII uniform.

I was told by my oldest sister that he told my Mamma this.

"You were right, Mom, there is a god. He spoke to me and said:

Summer is ended."

He survived the death march in the Phillipines and died of cerebal malaria in a Japanese prison camp.

I wrote a brief message to him that said: I wish I could have known you before the end of summer.

Loved your Coast Guard song, edgar/Mark

Now, The Navy Hymn:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZk1n9C070s

It doesn't have to be Sunday to play that lovely song.

@edgarblythe,
I wasn't certain of what Go Hide John, by red, Mark. I researched it and it seems it had to do with Vietnam.

I love this one about the navy:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Julr7EAPt8

My brother-in-law was in the tank corp and he knocked his helmet off. As he reached over to grab it, a sniper shot at him and his his shoulder. Had that not happened, he would have been shot in the head.
