Re: Most Influential Game Ever?

I seriously disagree with Goldeneye even being somewhat influential. Wolfenstein and Doom are the grand daddy's of first person shooters. Goldeneye is barely even a dent in the world of first person shooters.
I would agree that Pac-Man would be extremely influntial.
Goldeneye, to the world of first-person shooters, is irreplaceable for how it modernized the first-person shooter. Doom and Wolfenstein were strong, but neither contained a multiplayer mode. The multiplayer experience is what set Goldeneye apart from just about every other game during its time. Goldeneye, much like Halo and the Final Fantasy Series, is one of those games that people bought systems for just for that game. EA and company are having a ridiculously hard time matching what Goldeneye did, although they've come close with the most recent Bond game "Everything or Nothing".
It may be a stretch for me to say Goldeneye is the most influential. Looking back on it, it is influential, but games such as Pac-Man and Mario were revolutionary in their own right. This may be just like the "best game ever" discussion. Impossible, because of genre.
