Can you define the soul with scripture?

No. But even if I could, I have no need nor desire to do so.

I certainly won't stoop to a scripture quoting contest, as you seem to desire. Regardless on how I feel about the Bible as a book, I have too much respect for Christians to quote the Holy Book for my own vainglory, as you seem so keen on doing.

@neologist,
He's a Christian, no wait, he's an atheist, no he's a Christian, no he's an atheist.
Who knows with you, anymore.

Heb 10:23-25
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
(NKJ)

James 1:5-6
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

@najmelliw,
That is not why a Christian should quote the bible. It is called demonstrating the Spirit.

1 Cor 2:4-5
4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
(NKJ)

Its what separates the real Christians from the want-to-be's.

Sinners love those who love them. Sinners are friendly to those who are friendly to them. That is how the devil tricks so many people into letting him use them.

Luke 6:31-34
31 "And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.
32 "But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.
33 "And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
34 "And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back.

The devil is going to use great signs and wonders to deceive.

Rev 13:13
13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.
(NKJ)

Matt 24:24
24 "For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

@neologist,
I can show you lots of number ones. If one has been sanctified they will have the Word abiding in them.
Rom 10:8
8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
(NKJ)

John 17:17-19
17 "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
18 "As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.
19 "And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
(NKJ)

There is only one guarantee in the whole bible.

2 Cor 5:5
5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
(NKJ)

John 14:26
26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Sorry. You missed it. But no surprise. You don't have the opportunity
Quote:
John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.King James Version (KJV)].

@neologist,
I'm sorry but you have been deceived. Didn't you read it. That will only make you a disciple. Disciples are in the milk understanding. Disciples are hearers of the Word and not doers of the Word. To get salvation on has to get in the meat understanding, and be doers of the Word and not hearers only. disciples have empty lamps(No Works)

Matt 25:1-13

1 "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2 "Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 "Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,
4 "but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 "But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 "And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!'
7 "Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.
8 "And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'
9 "But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'
10 "And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
11 "Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!'
12 "But he answered and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.'
13 "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

@Squeakybro,
No.
If you fail at John 13:34-35, you havn't progressed. If you think you have progressed, but don't have love, you are a liar.

Quote:
1John 4:20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar. For the one who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

@snood,
Christians don't do it to usurp reason. They do it to demonstrate the Holy Spirit.

1 Cor 2:4-7
4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,
