Make sure you have Set Windows to show Hidden Files & Folders, then reboot into safe mode then find and delete:

C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools <--------Delete this folder.

Reboot, then post another log and we'll clean up.

deleting wintools folder
Hello and thanks for the welcome and the replies. The way I found this forum was by searching Google for WToolsA.exe and I found someone's log and several replies. Among the advice, was the suggestion made by Nirvana, namely, to reboot in safe mode and delete the C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools folder. I tried that before I even joined this group and asked the question, but when I did delete the folder and returned to regular Windows mode, my browsers could no longer access any site on the Internet. It's like something critical had been deleted that wiped out any knowledge of the outside world. I had to restore that folder to be able to use my browser. I'll try it again and see. Thanks.

How can I ever thank you?
It was running tons better immediately after I deleted the WinTools folder. I did what you said and here is my latest log. How can I ever thank you? I don't feel quite so helpless with you guys here. Can you tell me what that thing was doing or trying to do, and/or how I might have got it? New log:

Just fix this one then you're good to go:

There are many ways to get infected with malware, protection is the best policy:

To reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster and SpyWareGuard and IE/Spyad.

SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard are by JavaCool and both are free programs. SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed and consumes no system resources. SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

More info and download is available at:
SpywareBlaster: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
SpywareGuard: http://www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareguard.html

IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It is free.

More info and download is available at:
IE/Spyad: http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/resource.htm
