Oops... I still dont know when to hit submit. hehehe Embarrassed

What I wanted to say ... Sexual repression to me has many examples. Porn, tv , clothing styles , topless bars... etc. Allowing some or removing some ads to sexual repression in some way or another. Why is it that after supposed millions of years of humans as sexual beings is it just now that we are shunning sex and trying to push it under the carpet treating it like a dirty secret? Sex is how we got here. Sex is how we will BE here. So why do people , religions , cults, businesses etc all try to change that fact ? Sex is not bad. Not talking about sex is bad. Pretending sex is "punishable" is bad. But somewhere along the line , we accepted those beliefs. Why ?

I suspect that our failure to honor our animal nature, our inability to identify with our drives has given rise to all the "kinky" distortions of sex seen in pornography. A person who loves his or her animal nature wants sex to be simple and direct, with real people in intimate and honest closeness. Inhibition, superego tyranny, leads to the development of, and dependence on, a highly imaginary and fantasy laden libido. Sexual fantasy aids are needed by those who can't, as it were, "get it up" without help. Now, at the same time, it is probably so that humans have had to regulate drives for the sake of social order. That, however, is not identication with puritanical suppression. Libido can be "sublimated" to give rise to the arts and other high cultural expressions.

Very true. I still find it funny however that sexual 'aides' have now become a staple in our society in less then 200 years. Probally even less then that. Since we have not been able to 'mass produce' papers and documents until the late 1800's. Now it is more common for someone to have had a fantasy sexual relationship then to have had a real one. Fantasy sex is even the new 'safe sex'...yet another promotion to look away from and forget physical sex.

And I suspect that it is one more aspect of life that the controlling types of personalities have attempted to control when they had the ability.

Also nowadays some men feel unable to perform to the standards which they feel their women(who are often friends also) deserve. (the porn shows are at least as rough on male self esteem as "Playboy" magazine is on womens)

Sexual Aids have always been with us, at least for the male portions of society. Mistresses, concubines, harems, prostitutes, and multiple wives have all been parts of recorded society since somebody recorded it.

But up till now women were left out. She wolves were not expected to like such a dirty, nasty, unclean, thing. "Lady Chatterly's Lover" caused quite a stir, remember.

Since I suspect that you are female I will reiterate an old joke which has a good bit of truth in it.

Farmer and wife were sitting on the porch one spring evening. On the lawn they watched a male duck service three females in a few minutes. Wife (teasingly ) asked "Now why can't you do that? Farmer said " Might'ni could if I had a different duck every time".

Variety in sexual partners is a considerable aphrodisiac for a male. And I have never had a wife or girlfriend yet that could understand why. I suspect that variety is, and always was, a sexual aid for males. This accounts for the aforementioned list of female sex workers. In my experience it works differently in females. Sad

But maybe it's just more self inhibiting repression Confused Darned if I know Confused

HAHAH!! I remember that joke. Laughing
As for being serviced in a few minutes?? I wouldnt mind that.. as long as the descrepency of 'minutes' is the same as 'six inches' hehehhe... We all know that six inches is a hell of a stretch to most people... and if that same scale applies to minutes... I wont complain! Cool

Variety is the spice of life. How true. So I wonder why variety ( today ) is acceptable in EVERYTHING but sex? Besides the fact that the variety in sex exists in everyones bedroomand noone wants to talk about it.. it still seems like it is just the most horrible thing you could ever want to do. ??? WHY? noone wants to do the same thing over and over and over again? ((( well.. that statement.. uhh... im not going to elaborate .. i will save myself now))

I wonder what humans sex life was like before we implimented religion into our loins and limited what was ok and what wasnt. Maybe that is why we are so overpopulated.... hehehe Twisted Evil

Shewolf, I thank religion for having made sex dirty. Remember Woody's comment.
By the way, some sociobiologists argue that males, in most species, have a drive to spread their seed as widely as possible (hence the desire for variety), but that females want the male genitor to stick around and protect and feed her children (hence the female desire for monogamy). I prefer to think that, while this may account for some of the variance in behavior, culture has shaped human motivation to be much more complex and nuanced than that.
Also, judging from the number of email advertisements I receive for pills and instruments designed to increase penis size, males must be suffering some considerable embarrassment when comparing themselves to porn stars. I wish they would sell reducing pills and instruments. Laughing

Shewolfnm, You have several comments so -- One at a time==

It's called a quickie, a nooner, or a morner when human are unusually brief. It's reputedly popular amongst our younger citizens Smile

JL answered your second point very well IMO natch.

Third, "What was sex like before religion. Idea Now I am going to "show you a facet of human nature which is all to often unappreciated Exclamation

When sex was natural the population of the world was stable figured on a continental basis.

But when somebody (the writers of Genesis) wished to increase the size of their tribe they began to forbid sex except under prescribed circumstances. They also began to fiddle with penises, and call women sex organs unclean. This naturally made everybody much more interested in sex that they previously had been so consequently they would have sex more often with a resultant increase in the numbers of little Jews, Catholics or Muslims.

Please note that the societies with the most restrictive "public" sex practices are the ones that have the most children. Catholics, Muslims and Amish in todays world.

So for the "lesson"-- When government, whether secular or sectarian, wishes to make something more valuable the best course of action is to forbid, license, or disaprove of something. This will tend to raise it's perceived value to the general population which will tend to increase the supply.

The producers of marijuana, cocaine, whisky, opium, and tobacco are some current beneficiaries of restrictive governmental processes which increase the price and desireability of their products.
In the Arab and Catholic countries the churches and mosques are the beneficaries of a crop of uneducable (due to budgetary considerations) impoverished, discontented poor children which they can raise in their view of the world. (Cannon fodder-Suicide bombers-or tithers).

If you wish to experiment I will give you my observations.

Of all societies with which I have been involved the ones that thought about sex the least were nudists and naturists. The ones that thought about it the most were Catholics and Mennonites.

Go Figure Confused Very Happy Mech

I had to chew on your statement a few times before I was able to sort it out..and that is so true. i NEVER thought of it that way. More repression has actually equalled OVER population. So I still wonder WHY sex was ever forbidden. Where does a religion get the idea that it should be? What is next ? Breathing? hehe.

Oh yeah... us old folks get into the quickie thinngggy too sometimes! Depends on if the viagra was taken by IV or not. HAHAHAH

I am a victim of sexual repression. I used to enjoy masturbation daily. Now, on a day when squinney and I have sex, I feel embarassed to masturbate on the same day. This leads, in addition to reduced self esteem, the hypertension that results from loss of sexual release. It's a real problem.

Shewolfnm,

Thats the point. It was forbidden in order to increase the number of children availiable to increase the population of the tribe-society-country-church, or what have you, just as forbidding opium etc actually increases the "drug problem".
