URL de-cloaking

Reply Sun 30 May, 2004 07:20 pm
Hi,

Someone created a cloaked "shrinkmylink.com" address for my site. People who use his link can access my site, but shrinkmylink.com is cloaking my true URL in the "address" field of the browser. Is there any way I can counter that by de-cloaking the URL? Thanks! Smile

Yes, it's pretty easy. That service merely puts your site in a frameset so all you need to do is include a script to detect and break free of frames.

Here is an example:

Break frames javascript

Hi,

The thing is, his link is sending people to the forum page, whereas I want everyone using his link to land at the index page. Anything I can do about that? By the way, using his link turns all the site links into similar SML.com links, so what I'm looking for is a script (which you've kindly showed me) and a way to redirect traffic coming from his SML link. Thanks again! Smile

Hi,

You can use this script:

http://search.able2know.com/About/11.html

It will redirect users if they come from certain referrers.

Thanks! Smile Is there any way to do it by utilizing the ".htaccess" file?

Well, you could reroute all traffic from that referrer using htaccess....

But that's a lot to do for just one lil' redirect link. Lemme know if you need help with the rewrite code for htaccess.

Look, you can't detect frames with htaccess, neither can you break out of them with htaccess.

I spoke of rerouting traffic from a specific referrer which was something the member was interested in in addition to breaking out of frames.
