@ehBeth,
Nah. I have the most boring speech.
Absolutely no accent at all that I can discern.

Very Happy

CHEER! That is among my GOALS. I carry my flag high!

I reject your aspersion of delusion. That is just your imagination.

Nearly every English speaking child learns to read and write at school,
and learns the basics of how to spell and pronounce the vast majority
of English words so that the vast majority of other English speaking
people may understand their written word, no matter how those
words are pronounced from region to region.
Those teachers have been reprehensible
in failing to teach proper spelling.
Thay shud refund so much of their salaries
as compensated their time poisoning the minds of their victims.
That is reasonable, if thay also pay interest on their ill-gotten gain.
If I had access to my teachers, then I'd complain of malfeasance in office.
Thay shud have NO regard for the aliens overseas. The latter don t pay them.

Those teachers administered negligently inadequate education.
Thay shud indemnify their students for wasting their time.
Proper respect for competent logic and efficiency require abandonment
of non-fonetic atavistic spelling.

Fortunately, the young, properly rejecting the errors of their elders in disdain,
have substituted their proper fonetics, in free rebellion. Their success is inevitable.

President Teddy Roosevelt tried to accomplish it about 1OO years ago.
Alas, Congress stopped his efforts.

It is language weirdos who come along and try

The result is that I find your posts tiresome to read, and have it in my
mind that in real life you must sound like a backwoods throwback.

If the words are spelt universally as we all know them, then we can pronounce them
the way we wish to pronounce them in our heads as we read, according to the region
on this planet that we are familiar with.
Because of TV, everyone will speak as we do in NY.
Its only Natural. The elevation process has already begun.

To have kiddy spelling rammed down our throats is pretty ridiculous to my mind.
The kids will WIN. Chaucerian spelling will belatedly lose.

I have to semi translate what you write, and usually have it in mind that you are silly

That is the definition of prejudice:

Will u agree that everyone who posts (as distinct from merely lurking)

Will u agree that includes u?

Such is the goal of everyone who posts.
If u disagree, then please explain.
Posting to A2K is not supposed to replicate
writing in your private diary in the secrecy of your bedroom.

Setanta wrote:
For pity's sake, he spells "they" as "thay"
I don t do it for the sake of pity.
The sound is a CLEAR and distinct long aaaaaa sound, yet it is mis-spelled with an e. That rapes logic.
I DEFEND THE CHASTITY OF LOGIC.
I prefer not to be complicit in the said rape, if un-necessary.
The only reason that u spell it incorrectly, Setanta, is that u got bad advice in your youth.
IF u had been told to spell it my way, then u woud have, un-questioningly.
I have posted many times: I post in words whose spellings sound like
the way that thay r pronounced. That word is pronounced THlong A,
not E.
It shud be spelled accordingly.
Indeed, IF it had been spelled: "the"
then it woud have been a different word, which IS spelled correctly.
( I have a sneaking suspicion that u already UNDERSTAND this. )

Setanta wrote:
just in the hope of getting someone's goat.
Setanta, your efforts to discern my subjective motivation
were futilely un-successful.

I post to show A BETTER WAY TO SPELL; FASTER & EASIER, as the kids do.
The future is theirs.
