Modern religions are deeply rooted in the religions of ancient Babylon. The biblical references to Babylon and Babylon the Great take note of this.

I don't know about pagan roots, but they do like to branch into that. I will say this, catholiscm is considered a cult by many. Also catholicism is not considered a part of Christianty.
