From the BBC website
Quote:
Two US men who spent three decades in prison for rape and murder, one of them on death row, have been released after DNA evidence proved their innocence.

Mentally disabled half brothers Henry McCollum, 50, and Leon Brown, 46, were convicted in 1984 of raping and killing an 11-year-old girl in North Carolina.

Recently analysed DNA evidence from the crime scene implicated another man, who is in prison for a similar crime.

A county judge ordered the immediate release of the brothers.

Tuesday's court judgement followed an investigation by the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission, which tested DNA evidence found at the scene.

The commission found that none could be traced to Mr McCollum or Mr Brown.

Would this ever have happened had they been white?

@izzythepush,
Scalia, super death penalty advocate for the Supreme Court, once used this case as an example of why the death penalty is great.

The exact opposite side of the coin to this, of course, is Rotherham.

And many other places soon to be divulged, no doubt.

Justice goes very awry, sometimes.

Relative to the issue of "rape", I suspect both white and black men rape women as well as other men.

Relative to the 30 yr sentence given the black men, had the rapists been white, at this time in the history of the USA, they would have been given comparable sentences, based on the specific Judge evaluating the case.

If the technology involving DNA identification/ characterization/sequencing had been available at the time ( 30 Yr ago ) when the rape case came to trial, the men would never have been sentenced to a jail term.

As you, MY LADY, are not an American, it is perhaps difficult for you,to evaluate the relations that exist between Black and White in the USA.

Thus, you immediately jump to a racist evaluation of current events that would "appear" to be racial in nature.

@Miller,
That's the sort of bigoted response I'd expect from an idiot like you.

If they hadn't pounded her head against the pavement and broke her eyesocket, they might not have come under suspicion in the first place.
