@izzythepush,
The Tolstoy story just has a few tangents with Kings. Kings reference in his book on writing style just gave a POR to several tales that regarded men in prison for crimes they didnt commit.... I read the Tolstoy shorty after I finished Kings book on writing , The two plot lines are barely in the same vein. The hero in Tolstoy' ultimately dies and much time psses before the actual murderer of a business associate of the hero confesses. His guilt was what moved him to do the right thing ultimateley even though the hero helped the actual murderer while they were both in prison. Kings story makes better use of the surroundings and does more with action than does Tolstoy (IMHO).
Id have to go bck nd read both to pick out the tanget points but thir werent a whole lot.
Just Like Elmore Leonard gave some shout outs to Shakespeare's Julius Caeser as an idea man for Leonard's "GET SHORTY"
