Ashes Teat Series.
For Americans that is a bi-annual series of 5 matches of 5 days each of cricket between an England Eleven and a bunch of cornstalks from down-under. The matches are played in alternate countries.
The ashes, according to one of the legends, were those of the six stumps and bails after being burned at the end of the first ever series in, I think, 1892. They are kept in a terracotta funerary urn in the M.C.C. museum at Lords. A replica is presented to the winning side. As of now England are in possession of the Ashes.
