Quiet down-- turn the quiet down? Quieten? People are just so illogical with their 'fixes, adding them everywhere. If you think about things, 'out of' often makes little sense too...
(I've stopped using two prepositions together if I think to avoid it. Generally, that's a bad move. And I'm not very fond of most verb phrases either, yet they have been engrained in my mind. Oh, English!)

(English is fascinating, but O so ugly. And isn't it amazing that ours is one of the few languages that are spoken better by more foreigners than native speakers?)
