Childhoods finally gone
small hands and feet paddle water
and shape damp domes of beach sand,
they're not mine
kids in sunhats and nothing else
run screeching between bright umbrella's
streaks of white sunscreen
on red cheeks
uninhibbated by their nakedness
and unaffected by grains of sand
in all the wrong places
I on the other hand smack and shake
bikini top and bottom
watching moms and dads
(and puppies and children)
with frisbee's play
while my childhood like the tide
slowly slips away.
Very touching. I had the same thoughts when I realized I was actually an adult.
it's only depressing when you wathc how cool keds are with beach sand, i've devolped a real dislike for beach sand as I've grown up
