I hope you are all HOPING...and WISHING with me.

Sure, I'll hope with you.

I think we might be able to do this.

If we put enough effort into the hoping and wishing...it might come to pass.

If I really thought we had that kind of power, I certainly would have a lot of things on my list ahead of aliens.

@Frank Apisa,
Frank i have also my hopes on this matters. I will pray for thos to happen soon. But i will pray more for you to stay with us for more roundtrips around our star.

A positive sign of life (and a little bit easier to solve) will be to find proof of life out of our planet on our planetarian neighborhood. Like on mars, or on Jupites clouds, or on Europa. Because this will prove that ife is a constant in our universe and it can originate even on the most hostil enviroments.

In case we found a sentinet species i agree that we may destroy each other but not threw war. But secondary to cross infection between our bacteria and their bacteria like microorganisms that travel with them (like in H G Wells Wars of The Worlds)

It is well known, for example, that is more dangerous the bite of a human than of a dog because of the dangers of nasty infections.

@Eva,
Earth is marked on all the Extra-Terrestrials star maps as being 'hillbillies of the universe'. If you're running out of fuel, DO NOT land here.

@Frank Apisa,
I suppose you sci fi hoper types need an armanda'd enemy to work against. I'm here now.

I'm mildly interested in the universe, but mostly I can't see it (ok, the moon and sun) and will listen to science as it happens.

A friend and I got a flat tire in the Mohave around 3 am as trucks roared by. Long story, told here before (there was a second flat and her car was an old porshe, semi maintained), but my pal the driver (she was introducing me to skiing) exclaimed about the stars. I couldn't see them. That was my first clue that I am night blind. The first people to help us were some guys that noticed us in a coffee shop. Or maybe noticed her car. But she was blonde. Double interest. The trucks trucked on.

I wasn't all gung ho on sci fi before that, but still read some. I just have never been all that interested in fantasy of many types. Conjecture, sure. Give me a paragraph.
Hope for aliens?

Please, I have some wee hope for our earthlings and their stories.
Some of the earthlings will be needing food.

I have enough difficulty dealing with your run of the mill earthlings. But people from outer space??? I'll pass on this one. For your sake though, I hope that you reach your goal,and have many more years to do so!

South Dakota man describes alien encounter

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:2jwJdJpU24QJ:www.examiner.com/article/south-dakota-man-describes-alien-encounter+&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Quote:
A South Dakota Sioux Tribe security officer reported that hundreds of softball-sized red lights spun around his vehicle while driving home from work March 6, 2011, and that he had an encounter with two "translucent " beings, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The man's wife filed the MUFON report March 7 after her husband returned home "visibly shaken" and apparently with missing time. The wife stated that the drive home from the casino usually takes 90 minutes, but that the events began around 11:15 p.m. and her husband arrived home at 2 a.m.

The man was driving alone in his vehicle when he noticed the red lights about 11:40 p.m. on Highway 63 about five miles south heading into Eagle Butte.

"The red lights, about 100-200 of these red lights, kept going around the car for a couple of miles," the witness stated. "They never got super close, like two car lengths away from me, but all around me."

A few miles down the highway, the man noticed that his car was slowing down.

"I was doing about 60 mph, but it slowed down to 40 mph, and wouldn't go any faster. Then the red lights just disappeared. They didn't fly off or anything, they just disappeared. The car then went back up to 60 mph like I normally drive it."

When Highway 63 met a gravel road near a wind block experimental station, he noticed something standing along the road.

"I got a feeling of goosebumps all over me. It was tingly cold feeling all over me. Then I saw this thing on the side of the road where the gravel road meets the road and before I knew it, it was on the car. It reached in and touched my head through the windshield and ran its hand down my back. My back got real hot."

The man described the alien.

"It had an oblong head, really thin body, thin arms and legs. It was translucent. It was glowing like a real dim light bulb cause you can see through it. Eyes were size of human, really long nose long in length. It has a really big mouth. Its arms were like sticks. They were parallel through each other. The two sticks looked like it was glowing. It was around 4 foot tall, but its arms stretched."

There was another being standing along the road too.

"The other one, on the left hand side of the road had a face like a beast, horrifying, ugly, looked wrinkly, walked like a squat about the size of a goat. It was glowing too, reddish brown. It was wide and narrow."

The being along the side of the road disappeared quickly, but the alien that appeared to enter the car stayed with the man until he reached an area where there were homes.

The wife said her husband's head was hot and his demeanor was agitated when he arrived home. The husband also noticed that he had used up more gas than usual.

If nothing else, husband provided wife with a good excuse for coming home late all heated up and having used more gas than usual. Smile

@Frank Apisa,
I'm waaayy ahead of you, Frank. I've been hoping for what you ask since long, long before you ever asked. (But that sort of hoping is really quite similar to prayer, isn't it? How does that sit with an old agnostic like yourself?)

@Frank Apisa,
In childhood, I hoped for that,
but on reflection I know that it 'd be catastrofic.
The experience of the Indians with the Spanish is instructive.

I hope for THE OPPOSITE of what u want, Frank.

Look at the life on Earth: it is near 1OO% predatory,
including HUMAN LIFE. Stalin 's DNA was the same as yours.

If we r alone in the Universe,
then we can take whatever we want out there, with impugnity.

I see no contradiction with agnosticism and the desire to learn and interest with creatures from outside our small planet. There are a lot of things that we don't know at this point in our evolution.

Think about life on this earth 100 years ago. Consider what people did not know then that we know now. Also imagine what it would be like for someone in 1914 to be told about the things that we know in 2014, and are part of our daily lives.

I'll bet that they would be incredulous. Now think about what life might be like 200 years from now. (If we haven't blown up the earth by then) I would imagine that the folks in 2214 would think of us as quite primitive .

I want it to be "hoping" and "wishing." Nothing wrong with hoping and wishing. Nothing wrong with praying either.

I wrote almost that same thing in a thread about space travel just a few days ago. We are thinking alike, B.

Yes it would be great if you can have "coffee" with aliens and with ("alien’s nutrients, that will have power to make one's age younger and add unlimited energy").
