What is the longest north-south river in the U.S.A.? I cannot find it in my dictionaries, encyclopedias, or atlas's...
Try the Mississippi.
I don't know if this is the right answer. I'm just guessing. Check it out by Googling 'Mississippi River'.
The longest river in the USA is the Mississippi River system, 3740 miles in length to the nearest 10 miles. The primary direction of flow is North to South but as Mr. Twain said the Mississippi is the crookedest river.(Mississippi-Missouri-Jefferson-Beaverhead-Red Rock) Reference: The Cambridge Factfinder 1994 edition
