Most of the "al . . . " words in English have an Arabic derivative: "Algebra, alphabet, allegory, allele, allergy," etc., etc. Check Merriam-Webster's Dictionary. Then, there are words like "iota." Check out various prefixes and suffixes for other word groups with Arabic roots. [/color]

If you check your basic astronomy sites (especially for "star names" or "star maps") you'll find that many of the accepted names of individual stars are Arabic in origin--not to discount the Greek names or designated letter-number names--as are many of the terms in chemistry.
Take Orion by itself: Betelgeuse, Bellatrix, Rigel & Saiph at the shoulders and knees, and Mintaka in the belt. Then there's Aldebaran (in Taurus the Bull) and such.
Although members of the Arab world did a lot of travelling, the vast majority of their observations were limited to the Northern Hemisphere.
