i need macbeth allusions in movies tv or books.. just mac beth please help me! dosent have to be modern day but would be good if it was.. please help
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
William Faulkner wrote a novel entitled The Sound and the Fury. It was in part about someone who was, in the legal sense, a moron (i.e., an adult with the mind of a toddler). Therefore, it was "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
Now, we are here to help, but we are not here to do your homework for you. I would suggest that any search engine can help you find the text of MacBeth. If you read it (which i suggest is the point of getting an education), you can find many, many quotes which you can then also enter into a search engine. From there, you can get the start you need to complete your homework.
would the raven by po be good to use?
would the raven be good to use?----sorry twice
I don't understand what the relationship is between Poe and Shakespeare. If you would decribe your assignment, that would help.
Any way you look at it, though, i'm going to suggest that you actually read the work about which you intend to write.
"Out, Out", by Robert Frost. A poem whose title is taken from Set's quote.
Great poem, and when you read it, see if you can determine the allusion.
Kirosawa's movie "Throne of Blood".
I'm gonna look that one up, Cav.
Letty, an awesome night would be to watch Throne of Blood (Macbeth-based) and Ran (King Lear-based) in one sitting. The first is in black and white, the second in colour, and they are seperated by many years. However, the similarity in framing and direction is fascinating. I love Kirosawa.
Love to do just that, Cav. I'm not certain if I can find it here in this small area. I would have to go inland. Dummy me looked up Theatre of Blood and found Vincent Price...
did have some allusion to Shakespeare, however.
Already found it on Google, Cav, and it looks awesome. I'm not much on sub titles, but if it's MacBeth, I might make an exception. Certainly beats the crap outta Godzilla.
Word to amv:
Researching can be a delight, my young friend. As a result of Cav's information, I came across something that I have been looking to find for some time. I may even start a thread about it.
I saw "Throne of Blood" in college. It blew me away...
There is this film, Joe Macbeth ... Shakespeare in gangster setting.
MAYBE THIS A2K THREAD . . .
Maybe this A2K Thread can offer some help. Good luck! :-)[/color]
SHAKESPEARE ALLUSIONS
Hi amvichiq,
Welcome to a2k, have fun!
Does a parody of MacBeth count? Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters (1988) ISBN 0-451-45012-4, looks like what you want. He also parodies A Midsummer Night's Dream in Lords and Ladies (1994) ISBN 0-06-105692-8.
Read em and laugh.
Sam
Watch Black Adder and Red Dwarf for plenty of them.
I had forgotten those two Britcoms. I wonder why modern writers often borrow from Shakespearean tragedy and use it in comedy? Mmm
Thats why I enjoy a2k, always food for thought!
Sam
Definitely "Throne of Blood." Toshiro Mifune becomes a human pincushion in the end.
