There are quite a few Amish near where I grew up (western edge of Defiance County in Ohio) and where my family vacationed (near Angola, IN). What sort of information do you need?
Erm, why are Amish people using the internet? Just asking...I don't know much about how your culture has progressed.
I stand nearly right......
Pennsylvania Dutch are really Deutsch -- German.
Thhe Center for Anabaptist Culture is at Elizabethtown College, in Elizaethtown Pa.
The Amish population in Pa is a growing, but somewhat insulated society that is still primarily agricultural based. However ina few of the key counties like Lancaster and Berks, the availability of farmland is declining due to building. Therefore the Amish kids who decide to stray in the culture afre beginning to work in the trades like carpentry, building , furniture manufacture , etc.
The term Dutch is a corruption of the Palatinate German word Deitsch, which merely means "German"
