I've just acquired a Cybershot 3.2 after some good advice on the forum, but find editing a pic so it is only 6 k, for posting as an avatar, almost impossible. How can some avs be big, colourful and even animated when all I can do is cut off half my face and go black and white!?
Some people use links to animated GIF images as their avatars.

I can't help you with an animated image, Boss, but if you want to send me a personal message, i will "pm" an email address to you. You can then send me an image, and i'll photoshop it for you, and you can use that image.

IrfanView, a free, easy-to-use, yuckware-clean image manipulation utility, readilly allows resizing.

Not fair, Miss Clary . . . as of 12:30 p.m., EDT, there was no e-mail from you. I've gone back to my e-mail (i'm at work, and can't just run over there whenever), and now have your message. I'll get an image for you as soon as i can.
Right now, I'm featuring Walter's new avatar, and as soon as he tells me he's copied it for his use, i'll put up your new image, and instruct you in how to copy it.
Then i can go back to using a dog avatar, picture of Creation's most Divine Handiwork.

Is it still the case that if we browse the avatar gallery we lose our uploaded avatar?
