Could you be a little more specific? What is the hardware device that "keeps showing up", and what are its properties according to Device Manager? What, if any, drivers are associated with it? Is it an internal or external device? Have you added, changed or deleted any software, or made any registry changes recently?

Ya got me confused here ... are you talkin' about a hardware problem, a toolbar problem, or both?

Sure, I'll take a look at a HiJackThis log. If you want a good one, put HJT into a folder of its own on your C: drive, then close all other applications, windows, and browsers, run it, and post the log.

To create a folder on your C: drive, right-click on "My Computer", then select "Open". Find your C: drive folder, and open that. From the toolbar in that folder, select "File", then select "New" then select "Folder", which will create the folder. Name the folder "HiJackThis", or anything else you'll remember (you could name it Ephraim, or Jupiter or Cat, for all that the name matters, just so you know what it is), then drag-and-drop HJT from wherever it is into that folder, close all other folders, windows, browsers, and other apps, and run it from there. Oh, and if you've used MSCONFIG to disable any startup items, go back and configure it for "Normal Startup - Load all devices and drivers", reboot to apply, then run HJT.
