Ancient Rome's Treasury -- FISC
Quote:
The origin of the word "fiscal" dates back to the Roman Empire when the word 'fisc' or 'fisk' related to the State Treasury.

Fisc, for sure. Encarta says: royal treasury: royal funds, especially those belonging to a Roman emperor (archaic)

It seems I'm too late to help you with these, Jaxx36! When I come into A2K I do a search for "Lovatts" - it's the easiest and fastest way to see if anyone wants help .... or to see if anyone else has asked for help on a clue I'm stuck on Smile

I don't seal the envelopes for my completed entries until it's time to post them (a week before closing date) so that I can maybe help someone but it DOES help a whole lot if the book title, puzzle name (usually Stinker or Demon Smile) and clue number (eg 32A) is given.

It would also be nice if more people filled out their profiles - at least tell us which country you're in, although more specific would be good. I like to see where people are! Very Happy
