scrolling input column beside picture gallery

PC Magazine (March 2004) gives a top rating to www.smugmug.com I am a newbie and hope others will give a lot of input to this thread

What I'd like to do is have a smugmug type set up (including the option of unlimited number of pictures) with a scrolling column at the right for user comments. I got this idea when I saw a scrolling set up with reference to text rather than pictures at www.beliefnet.com

Does anyone know of a photo sharing service that has this kind of format?

I'd also like to link the set up to this forum.
