I just bought a new Nokia 521 and before I recycle my old craptastic LG Optimus Slider, I'd like to clean out the memory and the SIM card (Virgin Mobile).
Prior to cleaning the old Android phone, is there an easy way to transfer that contact folder to my new Windows 8 smartphone (T-Mobile)?
@tsarstepan,
When I did the same exact thing at Verizon, they transferred files for me. Have you told Virgin Mobile that's you wanted them to do? If not, have them do it. After all, it's part of their service. Is the SIM card still usable (not deleted) ? there has to be someone there that is competent enough and is willing to do what their responsibility is.
@tsarstepan,
Have you tried to d/l any files or pics from your old cell phone to your home computer?. You need a USB interface cable and a program will popup as soon as you connect it on your pc or laptop and ask if this is a trusted source. You say yes. And then start transferring files. You can't do this with some files like contacts in email, though.
Try going back to Virgin Mobile and tell them what you want.
@Ragman,
The SIM card is kind of faulty. But as I'll try and get the blokes at Best Buy to help me with the data transfer. I bought both phones at Best Buy and there aren't any actual Virgin Mobile brick and mortar stores that I am aware of here in NYC.
@tsarstepan,
Try an experienced tech at Best Buy Geek Squad. They'll do it...as they sold both phones to you and have expertise. Just make sure they know what they're doing. Based on my experiences it's not always the case with Best Buy. Good luck!
