I will have to live in my relatives' house for several months, but they do not have any computer network or wifi. What should I do if I do not want to make a contract, probably year-long, with the internet company? I have a laptop.
@WBYeats,
You could just wing it and hope a neighbor has an unsecured wifi router (no password needed). If I can think of something better, I'll let you know.
@WBYeats,
Hmmm...Dial Up at 128 kbs...not a great solution. An Air Card? Pricey. Ah ha! Drive to McDOnalds and sit in their parking lot for free WiFi. Isn't there a Gov't program for free WiFi?

Didn't know dial ups still existed.

Your probably right or some kind of coffee bar with free wifi.
@tsarstepan,
I actually use Mickie D's WiFi when I am on the road. It's very reliable. Panera is good too. I tried the CIA HQ parking lot but their signal just gives me Congress. (REF: Ms. D. Feinstein D-CA)
@tsarstepan,
be careful about that...if you don't want all your private info being seen by someone else,,if you don't care then go for it
But I must stay in the house...
There's no pre-paid 3G available?
@WBYeats,
Get yourself an internet connection! It's simple right?
