Criterion one...comfort.
Criterion two...they ought not to give off the sort of odor that brings the health department to your door. Or scavenger animals.
Criterion three...when you put them on, you ought to feel like yourself and Pat Boone aren't friends.
Criterion four...go big. The larger you can get them without violating criterion one, the better your prospects for a date.
Criterion five...they ought to fine leather be made by Italian virgins and emanating that sort of rich glow common to fine Italian leather and virgins.

and I saw another pair of Cole Haans yesterday that I lusted after...probably the nicest looking shoe I've ever seen. But for the price, I could have bought a small island.

I find that some men love shoes more than one might have expected. It's very nice though.

But none of you guys can beat me with the number of pair of shoes I have. Hehehehehe

Lots of shoes in the closet, but not me!

"Metrosexual" is a very useful new expression to describe a straight man with certain behavioural charictaristics normally associated with gay men...

take more than average care over appearance (clothes, shoes, interior decor)
use moisturiser
cook more than steaks

Obviously, as I don't find men sexually attractive, I'm not gay. So metrosexual seems a good tag!

Denial noted.

Thanks Oss...this shoe-love thing is rather new for me. Previously, I kept a pair of good tennis shoes (great footbeds!) and several pairs of hiking boots. I had not owned a pair of 'dress shoes' for three decades.

But then, I began hanging with a shoe nutishist. I still refuse, utterly, to buy or wear any pair of shoes that has a separate heel. But I am compelled now by an aesthetic which had previously escaped me. I have some shoes now that are...if you can believe it...even prettier than a baseball glove.

I used to own a pair of "earth shoes." They managed to be both ugly and uncomfortable.
