Six people(KING,QUEEN,MINISTER,MINISTERS WIFE,SWEEPER,SWEEPERS WIFE) are struck on an Island and the only way to save their lives is by crossing the river by boat.A maximum of 2 people can ride the boat to go across and of course the boat can be riden back by 1 person also.As there are 3 men and 3 women the follwing conditions are to be applied:
1.No body will travel with SWEEPER and SWEEPERS WIfe
2.No men can ride the boat with anothers wife and vice-versa
3.No men can leave their wife on any side if any Men are standing on that side ( for e.g if the two sides of river are A and B and King is on side A and Minister or Sweeper is on side B than Queen can not go to side B)
4.No women can go to the other side if her husband is not on that side and another men are standing on that side (for eg If Minister is standing on side A and King is standing on side B than queen and Minister wife can not even ride the boat)
The Question is to Solve the above puzzle logicaly applying the above conditions
K,Q,M,MW,S,SW
1. S and SW to the other side, SW stays there, while S comes back
K,Q,M,MW,S - SW
2. Q and MW to the other side, they both stay, SW comes back with boat
K,M,S,SW - Q,MW
3. SW to the other side, Q coming back
K,Q,M,S - SW, MW
4. K and Q to the other side, MW coming back (this one is tricky, but with conditions the way you put them it's possible, nobody LEFT MW on the side where there is another man, and she is going to the side where her husband is)
M, MW, S - SW,K,Q
5. M and MW to the other side - SW coming back
S,SW - K,Q,M,MW
6. S and SW to the other side
Dear Myown username
Well it is a nice attempt but you are wrong on step no 4 if SW,MW are on the other side , I am sorry to say that King cannot visit that side ,please go through my conditions again.
Well, you sure made me thinking
1. S and SW go - S comes back
K,M,S,MW,Q - SW
2. MW and Q go - SW comes back
K,M,S,SW - Mw,Q
3. K and M go - K and Q come back
K,Q,S,SW - M,MW
4. S and SW go - M and MW go back
K,Q,M,MW - S,SW
5. K and M go - SW comes back
MW,Q,SW - K,M,S
6. MW and Q go - S comes back
S,SW - K,M,Q,MW
7. S and SW go - that's it
Dear Myownusername
You got it right this time .I have asked this riddle so many times from my friends and even after telling them the answers they always forget the solution.
well, I'm good in crossing the rivers I live in town with four of them
