my display device driver has become uninstalled. now i can only get 2 color or 16 color. during my research, i learned that this is a problem unique to windows 98. looking at pics is nearly impossible. i have tried removing the driver and reinstalling it but my pc keeps installing the same one. i would pull the video card out and look for the brand name if i knew how to find it!! any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
From your Desktop, Right-Click "My Computer", then select "Properties", then select "Device Manager". Click the "+" sign next to "Display Adapters" to open the details for your adapter. Double-Click on the listed adapter, and under the "General" tab, you will see the vendor name and hardware version. Write it down. Next, Click the "Driver" tab. The driver provider and driver date will be displayed. Write it down. Select "Driver File Details", and below the window listing the installed drivers will be the driver provider name and the File Version. Write it down.
Now, go to the vendor's website, and look for the latest driver for your operating system/hardware configuration. Read and understand any installation instructions (print them out if you wish) and tips, then download the new driver to a folder created on your C: drive you'll be able to find easily. When the download is complete, find and open the folder, and follow the instructions the vendor provided to install the driver.
