It means that the formatting code won't format the text.

Welcome to all the recent arrivals.

Alikimir, the small color formatted words in the signature lines of many of The Forum Guides and Moderators are links to relevant pages (and more of them will be, for those impatiently waiting for me to do as I promised I would ... I'm working on it ... just not as dilligently as you might prefer). My own signature line contains links to this site's FAQ and to its Help Forum. Check those out ... and feel free to play around with the bells and whistles ... you won't break anything.

Got an invitation from Patty for this forum just now... yes, I was very much fed up with the abuzz stuff, the impostor bit and all, and yes, I did miss you - just couldn't stand all of it any more. I had a very bad year, very bad - just hope this year will be better.
I've seen jespah quit Aaron and Abuzz, planned to react, not the energy.
I've done so much, and it helped so little - and lost so many people - y'know.
