@panzade,
when I started out learning the ropes, I often had to survey large tracts of land and I think of "chain lines" that superscribe some areas as big s a county. I always sweated out having my start and finish line-point meet. (We call this closure )
When I saw the fuckin galaxies that just keep appearing after 13 BILLION LIGHT YEARS, I started converting that to miles, hundredths and thousandths.

How small is that extended radius of view getting compared to the whole friggin circle of sky.

Now imagine all the stuff that is going on in those places - the life forms, the civilizations, the technologies. I feel confidant that if we were able to find out about some of these things, among them would be things that were very beautiful and other things that upon seeing, we would wish we could forget.

@Brandon9000,
There are only two possibilities.
Either we're alone or there's someone else out there.
Both of them scare the **** out of me.

Think about the Polynesian islanders living in the stone age who are visited by anthropologists. Even with the visitors having the best of intentions, it isn't good for the islanders.
