my vga card has become uninstalled. apparently this is a problem exclusive to win98. i've tried removing the display driver and letting windows find the best driver but i still can't get the right color. can a choose a driver to install and if so...which one and what if it says it does not recommend using that driver? i really miss my photos!

Might help to physically remove the card from its slot and reinsert it. Does the Driver Details tab under "Properties" for the video card match the make and model of your caed? I would suggest you visit your VGA card vendor's website, and download the latest drivers for your OS/Hardware configuration. Uninstall whatever driver currently is loaded, then "Remove" the card with Device Manager, then install the updated driver you downloaded esrlier.

Of none of that works, you might need a new card.
