Oh that was grand. I wish so much that I could have gone. Such lovely people. Thanks for the photos, a real show.
JL, tis barely started, I know of some really good photos and comments to come. Might take even two weeks as the planet flies.

Well, well, Osso you've been hiding your light under a bushel AGAIN!

Great pictures, Lola, thanks.

What fun we had last week end. I've just been to the gallery again and read all the comments. I'm in New York this week end, hangin out in my new apartment. Checkin out my new neighborhood. Found too many shops.......oh dear! I love New York........but I miss my a2k friends of last week end. Sigh...........
Have you actually made the big move, Lola?
Lola, If you're ever in our neighborhood again, please make sure to let us know. There's so much more to see and do in Northern California, one weekend just doesn't do it justice.
I'm sure I'll be back, c.i. And I'll be in touch.
Eva,
I have an office (which I'm sharing with a colleague) on the Upper East Side (East 78th). It's an apartment in a very nice building with the Carlyle Hotel tower outside the 9th floor window. This tower is lit at night and is a lovely landmark. I haven't moved here yet, that is, I haven't started working here. But when I'm in NY, as I am here now until Tuesday, meeting people and working out my arrangements, I can stay in my office. It's very convenient. I learned today that when I'm ready (probably around July or August) I can get an apartment in this same building (maybe the one next door to my office). This will be perfectly convenient! But I won't be here to work until September. I have two daughters to help get settled in college (hopefully both in NYC too) and myself as well. But I love this city and I'm very happy to be making these plans.
My daughter and her husband live on E. 68th
And I hovered right around there the few days I visited, and diane met me, what, plus a year ago now.
Hmm, diane, that great tea room... east of the Frick and up a block... at the edge of Madison.. probably at 72nd. Well, we had a fine time talking there, without our coats, which were back at the Frick...
Osso,
The Frick is one of my favorite museums here. It's a very nice manageable size........not over whelming and if you like Degas, then it's perfect. I'll look for the tea room, see what I think.
jjorge,
Your daughter and I are neighbors then. Small world, isn't it?
Lola -- September isn't that far off! I saw the photos of your gorgeous daughters in the gallery. Of course they are beautiful. I expected your children would be. I hope the two youngest will be joining you there this fall. That would be just about perfect, no?
I have been meaning to visit NYC for some time. It's one of the few cities I haven't seen that I still want to see, and of course I'd love to catch up with my old friend, Joe. Now I will have two friends to visit there!
You'll be welcome anytime, Eva. And I know Joe will be happy to see you.
How's your hearing?
Thanks for asking. I need to post an update on the "Huh?" thread. I will go do that now.
Good, I've been curious...
Lola, the tearoom isn't in the Frick itself, but you probably know that. Diane and I had just finished storing our coats and bags, etc. in the "cloakroom" and found out that I had misunderstood re there being a place to eat inside. (I was mixing it up with the Cloisters, which does have an place nearby..) So we clutched out tickets and walked very swiftly sans coats in what might have been the mid forties, towards Madison... I have the card, it's Toraya, Traditional Japanese Confectionary and Tea Room, at 17 E. 71st Street. We thought it was a winner, serene, and we both liked what we ate. I, thinking myself brave, had a tea concoction, strange to me, it was iced, rather virulently green, and had many things in it, including, I think, chocolate and perhaps miso. It was delicious.
