But then, one only has to walk any major U.S. city to realize the vast amount of homeless are vets. And nobody gives a **** about them either.

She didn't say that, are you sure? Here is her quote.

Besides I spent most of my time debating with her the need for current soldiers on food stamps and welfare. I know there are homeless vets, and I support those causes locally to help him. I doubted her above statement as false. According the #'s you posted I was right. At less then 20% of the homeless population vets are not a "vast amount of the homeless."

How do you know? You're neither an American nor do you live in the USA.

Why do you hate America and Americans?

I think what we should do is get rid of both, because at this point they are diet not medicine to fix illness. we need to find a way to make wages high enough to afford food and have enough jobs that those who want to work can.the crutch has gotten in the way of fixing the problem.

While this fix 'em up program is being put together by the finest legislators in the world, the get needed legislation passed members of the US of A governing bodies, what do you propose folks should eat, Hawk?

@JTT,
I think we set up WPA type jobs and let anyone who wants in in. they do a weeks work and we cut them a paycheck. if they want to use the money for food there are lots of businessmen who would be happy to sell them some. but lets end the sob story pitty game, it has
gotten corrosive.

Stupid, stupid, stupid and have I mentioned stupid, Miller. If you assholes were only ******* up yourselves and your own country, the world could and would love to leave you alone.

Who the hell wrote all that crap for the "founding fathers", the bullshit that you all embrace like it has some measure of meaning? Y'all harken back to those guys 'cause there sure haven't been many with any large measure of braininess since.

@Miller,
Why is it that as soon as a USian hears the truth about their country, the bearer of such news is anti-American?

Next there'll be talk of putting Ceili on 'ignore'. Then all the American 'ignore' crowd will gather to discuss how it has made their life better, how their magazine subscriptions have started coming on time again - "we just can't thank you enough, Robert, for giving us this great, and badly needed aid to daily life".

America does suck, Hawk, in so many substantial ways. It's an edifice based on completely phoniness, a grand Potemkin village. It has a populace that is incredibly conceited for completely erroneous reasons. Conceit is bad enough, in and of itself, but to be conceited based on grand lies and deception goes beyond the pale.

I'm only agreeing with you. You're doing a pretty damn good job describing how badly the US sucks. The only problem is that is the usual conceited "Oh me oh my how we USians are hurting".

I have to add that I appreciate reading Baldimo. We differ on some or many
matters, but I find him well tempered and understand his points. I might have agreed with him sometimes over time, but can't pinpoint that right now.

I figure, wild guess, he is Republican (some of my friends and relatives are too) and I don't think he preys on people.

I also appreciate our Kentucky guy, mysteryman. I know he is a good man.

In the hue and cry, we can get to blanket statements when people are more varied even in groups with names. Groups coalesce, but there is usually tension going on.

So, re the title here - some Republicans are causing a ruckus.
Too easy to spray a group - and I do admit I've felt that group in congress worth spraying more than once.

Frank Rich re Rand Paul:

I also appreciate Rand Paul, though, natch, I disagree on this and that.

I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of nuclear weapons aboard this ship.

Americans who fled their war mongering country are heroes. Why would anyone consider following a bunch of war criminals, a band of rogue terrorists into another land to wreck death and destruction upon completely innocent people?

Perhaps, instead of this tangent, you'd like to avail yourself of a discussion on the benefits of 'ignore". With that you'll have a crowd rally around you the likes of you've never seen - "Yay Hawkeye. I use 'ignore' for [insert lame reason that any self respecting adult would be ashamed to put forth]".

@ossobuco,
Individual Republicans are often good people. What we are pinpointing here is the fact that there are substantial numbers who are the opposite and who are dragging the system into dysfunction. Defending the good ones does not alter the landscape.
