Just like a dream
We sit by the coal fire
Sounds of the Grandfather clock
Ticking the past away.
This is my peace of Heaven
We talk into the small hours
The glow from the fire, reflecting the walls
Thinking this night should last forever.
We have travelled into the past
Laid my ghost to rest
Now her story unfolds
Life of tragedy and neglect.
First day at School
No one to take her there
She was left to fend for herself.
Parents love, she did not get
Sleeping in a cold room
Jackets and coats to keep warm.
Each day, sent out to look for firewood
Taking care of her siblings at the age of ten
Christmas just another day
Birthdays came and went no one cared.
Now she has found everlasting love
I am by her side
Until my dying day.
