Last year I entered nanowrimo and managed to finish a novella: just over 50,000. I did a lot of writing practice before the start date and during the month I was writing at least 700 words a day and sometimes I went up to 2000 words.
I was certain that some of this output would last post wrimo but I am finding it hard to discipline myself. Although I write a little something most days I find I am not finishing anything.
Any ideas? What do others do to maintain a writing discipline and keep motivated?
Thanks for your helpful replies in advance.
I suspect I did say something rude. Was it discipline or motivation ? Or perhaps discipline and motivation appearing together is offensive? Do you all wait for inspiration? Only get writing when your muse whacks you on the head with a brilliant idea? Perhaps writing takes place when there is that feeling or that urge?

Sorry, but I'm an outstanding procrastinator, both for my own work and on answering provocative posts.
After 60-odd years, all I know is "Dogged does it." Writing is a lonely habit--but it can be rewarding.
